Product finishing have been given the task to refurbish a wind turbine mast from the off shore wind farm in Walney, located 8 miles outside of Blackpool. Once the turbine is erected, it will stand at 150m just 8 meters short of Blackpool tower.
The shot blasting process is the most efficient way to remove oxidisation, paint and other surface contaminants. Once the substrate has been cleaned it will leave an abraded appearance, or surface profile. The protective coating will adhere to the material through this coarse profile. When subsequent coats are applied, the material will return to its former smooth surface, only with unmatched anti corrosive protection.
