When the bridge was repaired, it was returned to NL Williams for painting. After discussions with the client, it was decided that we would apply an N1 protective system to the structure. Undergoing a three different colour finish as the following: handrails (red), lattice work (white) and framework (green). We also applied mastic sealant to all of the overlapping joints on the lattice parapets, and to any other ‘at risk’ areas which reduces the chance of rust bleeding. As part of the engineers design, the wooden deck of the main span needed to be replaced with low cost, load bearing GRP Decking system (glass reinforced plastic). We opted to use our “GRiP Plank 500 panels”, that intersect to create a cost effective decking solution.
